Hiral’s family moved to America from India when she was 3. A childhood illness inspired her to study medicine, and she became an emergency room doctor. After losing her mother and nephew to cancer, Hiral directed her passion and problem-solving skills to evaluating and directing funding for cutting-edge cancer research.

Another of our superhero candidates, Hiral balances being a mom of three, a doctor, and a leader in her field. She supports the DREAM Act and a pathway to citizenship with no strings attached. She says that “Women’s reproductive health is an issue of civil rights, economic freedom, and religious freedom.”
